CP Smile Project
CP Smile Project
Why we created the CP Smile Project
Kids with cerebral palsy are just like all other kids – they want to play, explore and have fun with friends. Playing is how children learn to interact with their environment, develop physical skills and strength, expand their imagination and build friendships.
Play is not a luxury for kids - it is their “work”.
It is indeed the essence of childhood.
The importance of play in a child’s life can’t be over-emphasized. We know that to participate and have fun, children with cerebral palsy often need specialized equipment or other support to facilitate their participation. Unfortunately, there is little financial support provided to children with cerebral palsy to create recreational opportunities and support their ability to engage in play. That’s why we have created the CP Smile Project - to support kids with cerebral palsy to have fun and enjoy just being a kid.
The CP Smile Project is a community project.
By spreading the message of the importance of play and recreational activities for children living with cerebral palsy, our community will generate funding to provide bursaries to children living with cerebral palsy to support their ability to engage in play and have fun.
Support the project
Every time you help us spread the message on the importance of supporting children with cerebral palsy to engage in play and other recreational activities, CP Support Canada will match your show of support by contributing funds toward a bursary for a child with CP.
How can you help spread the message?
Join us on social media and like, share or comment on any social media post with #CPSmileProject.
We will contribute $10 to the project every time you do so. That’s right - with the click of a button here or here, you can directly help a child with cerebral palsy get the funding they need to engage in play and have fun with friends, while raising awareness in the community for this important initiative.
Once we hit $1,000, those funds will be provided to a child living with cerebral palsy in Canada whose family has applied for the bursary. Then we start the process over again.
Together, we will put smiles on the faces of children living with cerebral palsy, one family at a time.
Apply for the Bursary
Are you a parent caring for a child with cerebral palsy living in Canada? If yes, you qualify!
All you need to do is send us your 30 to 60 second video and tell us what makes your child smile.
Voila! You have been entered to receive a $1,000 bursary to be used toward anything that makes your child smile.
Please be aware that your video may be shared on social media to help increase awareness of cerebral palsy and the CP Smile Project. We only use first names to protect your privacy. If you do not wish your video to be shared please indicate this in your submission.
Our Progress
We are $140 away from awarding the next bursary. With your help, we can reach our goal and grant one more bursary to a family to support their child to find joy in play and other recreational activities.
